After the aggressor attacked
Croatia (July 1991) and Bosnia-Hercegovina (April 1992)
the need was felt for someone to start systematically caring
for the children who were left without either one or both
parents during these events . Therefore, Fr. Slavko Barbaric
began with the construction of the so-called Mother's Village.
It consists of a row of small houses which are conceived
with the idea that in each of them a so-called mother is
in residence with a definite number of children. The children
stay in this village until they have finished school, that
is, until they are prepared for independent living. In recent
times also those children are taken in whose parents have
simply abandoned them and want nothing to do with them or
have abused them. |
